Clayton’s Deli closes after 2.5 years in business, citing rising costs

Known as “Greenville’s Neighborhood Spot,” Clayton’s Deli and its in-house subsidiary The Pound Cake Man, have closed at 1628 E. North St.

Initially announced on Jan. 8 through a social media post, Clayton’s Deli’s last day of operation was scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 11, however, upon arriving at the location, the beloved breakfast, sandwich and pizza diner was closed.

Clayton's Deli, located at 1628 E. North St., has now officially closed.

The restaurant cited problems with the building, the rising cost of business, and circumstances beyond control as reasons why the two-and-a-half-year restaurant shut down its business.
