Known as “Greenville’s Neighborhood Spot,” Clayton’s Deli and its in-house subsidiary The Pound Cake Man, have closed at 1628 E. North St.
Initially announced on Jan. 8 through a social media post, Clayton’s Deli’s last day of operation was scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 11, however, upon arriving at the location, the beloved breakfast, sandwich and pizza diner was closed.
The restaurant cited problems with the building, the rising cost of business, and circumstances beyond control as reasons why the two-and-a-half-year restaurant shut down its business.
Clayton’s Deli has consistently participated in Greenville’s food scene since 2023, participating in numerous Fall for Greenville festivals and, most recently, in the 2nd annual Vegan Chef Challenge in 2024. Their diner space is known for its burgers, sandwiches, breakfast specials, and in-house sweets brand, The Pound Cake Man.
